Job Description
Ancora Waterfront Dining & Patio, False Creek is looking for an Assistant General Manager/ Sommelier to help lead their Team. The ideal person will have a sincere passion for hospitality and upscale service and previous experience in a Restaurant Manager position.
The AGM/ Sommelier (Ambleside location) will oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant including sales, fiscal operations, accounting, recruitment, and maintenance of the building and equipment. Additionally, the AGM/Sommelier will be responsible for managing the revenue with the goal being to exceed budget and preserve cost-effectiveness and profitability in agreement with company policies.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Work with other managers to recruit, orient, and train new employee's
Coach staff members when an area is identified that needs improvement
Empower staff to take initiative to drive sales and repeat business
Promote and drive sales by ensuring that each employee is serving the customer
Work the floor and converse with customer's to ensure they are receiving a high level of service
Encourage customer feed back and comment cards
Ensure that all products (food and liquor) are entered into both the Point of Sales computer and Optimum Control and are being sold within budget
Ensure a food safe organization through labeling, rotating, sanitation, and cleanliness of operations in both front of house and back of house
Skills/Qualifications:
Decision Making, Process Improvement, Strategic Planning, Verbal Communication, Customer Focus, Management Proficiency, Managing Profitability, Quality Focus
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an upscale restaurant management position and proven ability to manage and maintain the highest of service standards
Strong knowledge of wine and cocktails with minimum WSET 2 or equivalent.
Proven ability to grow business, increase sales and drive traffic and improve guest experience at the same time
